THE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT) carries out its educational activities within undergraduate and graduate programs, in the Faculty of Education at Mersin University Ciftlikkoy Campus.
A total of 9 academic staff members in the Department of CEIT, including 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 5 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 1 research assistant.
The main objective of the department is to educate teachers for primary and secondary education levels by providing undergraduate education in computer and other information and communication technologies. Undergraduate students who successfully complete the process are given a bachelor's degree in Computer Education and Instructional Technology. Graduates could be employed as teachers, lecturers,technologists in public and private schools affiliated with Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education, and academicians in relevant departments.
As of the 2015-2016 academic year, the department of CEIT continues to admit students through compulsory English preparatory education. At least 30% of the courses are given in English to students enrolled in the department of CEIT as of this date.
In addition, there are opportunities for Mevlana, Farabi, Erasmus coordinatorships in the department of CEIT. Erasmus+ coordination office provides active transfers within the scope of student and academic staff exchange.
Mission
The mission of the CEIT is to contribute and educate pre-service teachers and instructional designers who adhere to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's principles and reforms, do not compromise secularism and Republican principles, are hardworking, beneficial to the society, can use their knowledge and skill for the benefit of society, respect fundamental human rights, and can also develop new technologies.
Vision
Among the vision criteria of the CEIT is to educate graduates with research skills who can perform effective teaching in computer education with both intra-departmental and interdisciplinary researches, create effective technology-supported instructional designs, identify the problems encountered in the field of study, and ability to find and effective solution.
