ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING EDUCATION

The Master’s Program in English Language Teaching within the Department of Foreign Language Education began offering a thesis-based master’s degree in the Fall semester of the 2001–2002 academic year. The number of students whose program duration had expired and who entered the thesis defense stage was five in 2005 and two in 2006. By the end of the Fall semester of the 2006–2007 academic year, five students had completed the coursework phase and prepared their thesis proposals, whereas by the end of the Fall semester of the 2007–2008 academic year, this number was one. In the 2008–2009 academic year, three students were admitted to the master’s program, while five students enrolled in the 2009–2010 academic year. In the Spring semester of the 2010–2011 academic year, three students were admitted to the program. During the 2013–2014 academic year, one ÖYP-affiliated master’s student was accepted into the program.

The graduate program of our department continued its educational and instructional activities within the scope of the Faculty Development Program (ÖYP). Due to the program being inactive during certain periods, one (1) student was admitted in 2016 under Law No. 6569 and one (1) student was admitted in 2022 in accordance with Law No. 7417. In 2023, when the program became active again, three (3) new students were admitted. In the Fall semester of 2024, one (1) visiting student was accepted, and in the Spring semester of 2025, two (2) students were admitted to the program.
