Historical Progress
“The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Mersin University was established in 1995 as part of the Faculty of Engineering at the Çiftlikköy campus. Since its inception, the department has experienced rapid growth, offering master's degree programs in 1996, bachelor's degree programs in 2000, and doctoral degree programs in 2008. Our department accepts 60 students each year to its undergraduate program based on their SAY score. It graduated its first students in 2004. Since the department's establishment, the number of projects undertaken, the number of master's students, and the number of laboratories have steadily increased. The laboratory infrastructure in our department is regularly updated according to current technology.
Our institution conducts its education and training activities in buildings allocated by the Faculty of Engineering. This building has 17 offices, 5 advanced research laboratories, and 2 student laboratories. There are classrooms belonging to our faculty. Our institution has 13 faculty members, including 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, and 6 Assistant Professors, as well as 6 Research Assistants, 1 Secretary, and 1 Technician.
Our Mission
- To educate engineers who are professionally and personally developed; well-equipped and open to research; capable of evaluating existing theories, practices, ideas, opinions, and techniques around the world; able to filter information through their own thought processes; and capable of making their own decisions.
- To bring our curriculum up to international standards.
- To develop relationships with industry, enabling students to tackle real-world problems in local industries while studying.
- To establish international scientific connections and organize national and international conferences.
- To prepare publications and conference papers of international quality.
Our Vision
To be a department that follows national and international developments in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Education and Training, produces knowledge that will form the basis for shaping the future through its scientific and applied research, and trains well-equipped engineers in every respect.
