Historical Development, Mission, and Vision
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering at Mersin University established by Law No. 3837 in 1992, began its undergraduate program in the 1994–1995 academic year. The master’s program started in the 1994–1995 academic year, and the doctoral program commenced in the 2014–2015 academic year as a joint program with Çukurova University. In line with a decision by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the doctoral program, along with other joint doctoral programs at different universities, was closed in 2019.
- Our Mission: To deliver effective and efficient education, R&D, and scientific publication services with a highly motivated, team-oriented approach, making full use of all available resources to achieve the goals outlined in our Vision.
- Our Vision: To educate graduates who serve industry, possess a universal worldview, are equipped with sufficient engineering knowledge, and have a strong sense of responsibility.
- Our Values: To train mechanical engineers who can conduct professional work that enhances the competitiveness of organizations engaged in production at the national level; can connect institutional knowledge with engineering practice to design solutions; are equipped with the knowledge required by current science and technology; are inclined to both individual and team work with strong communication skills; are self-confident; and uphold professional responsibility and ethics.
