Internship

Students of Mersin University Faculty of Engineering undertake internships to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during their studies, to improve their professional skills, and to become familiar with business life. Internship practices aim to enable students to develop their professional knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors, gain work discipline, and obtain sectoral experience before graduation.

At our faculty, internship processes are carried out within the framework of the Mersin University Faculty of Engineering Internship Principles. These principles have been prepared based on Article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, the Regulation on Applied Education in Higher Education, and the Directive on Applied Education of Mersin University.


Internship Duration and Periods

The internship period is at least 20 working days. The duration, scope, and period of the internship are determined according to the education plan of the relevant department and are monitored by the Faculty Internship Committee.


Internship Application Process

- Students indicate their intention to do an internship in the relevant semester and prepare the Internship Application Form and required documents.

- The documents are reviewed by the Departmental Internship Committee and approved for eligibility.

- During the internship, the faculty carries out the students’ social security (SGK) procedures within the scope of Law No. 5510.


Internship Implementation and Evaluation

- During the internship, students fulfill the duties and responsibilities assigned by the institution.

- At the end of the internship, students report their work in the Internship Logbook and submit it by the specified deadline.

- Internship logbooks are reviewed and evaluated by the Departmental Internship Committee.

- As a result of the evaluation, each student is graded as Successful, Revision Required, Partially Successful, or Unsuccessful.


Internship Committee and Contact

In each department, a Departmental Internship Committee has been established. The committees are responsible for the evaluation, implementation, assessment, and announcement of internship results. For all questions regarding the internship process, students should contact the relevant Departmental Internship Committee.
