Midwifery Department Educational Objectives
Objectives of the Midwifery Education Program (PEA)
1. To train midwives who provide services to improve the health of individuals, families, and communities, adhere to ethical principles, and respect human rights.
2. To cultivate individuals who closely follow scientific and technological developments, conduct research, integrate evidence-based practices into their healthcare services, are inquisitive, and embrace lifelong learning as a principle.
3. To train midwives who are sensitive to cultural values, religious, and socioeconomic differences, possess strong communication skills, and possess empathy.
4. To train graduates who work patient-centered with a humanistic approach, possess high self-control, are responsible, and provide services focused on quality and patient safety.
5. To train midwives who are capable of effective interdisciplinary collaboration, are attuned to team spirit and dynamics, and are equipped to lead when necessary.
6. To train professionals who support normal processes in women's health, reproductive health, childbirth, and newborn health, and who, when necessary, can use their knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide effective and appropriate interventions.
7. To train professionals who can plan, provide, and sustain basic health services to protect and improve public health in diverse institutions and organizations across geographic regions.
Midwifery Department Program Learning Outcomes (PLO)
PO1. Is committed to Atatürk's principles, culturally well-equipped, has high self-confidence, and is aware of global and societal changes.
PO2. Identifies service needs by following scientific developments for the health and well-being of society.
PO3. Provides evidence-based services to women, newborns, families, and the community with a holistic and ethical approach, drawing on basic medical and professional knowledge.
PO4. Performs normal births under their own responsibility.
PO5. Identifies risky situations during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period and implements necessary interventions.
PO6. Provides midwifery services with an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach.
PO7. Uses communication and management skills.
PO8. Plans/conducts scientific research using analytical thinking processes.
PO9. Develops career planning by embracing the importance of lifelong learning.
PO10. Collaborates with national and international institutions, organizations, and NGOs.
PO11. Follows innovative developments using information technologies.
