Program Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Define the fundamental concepts and terms of psychology; possess knowledge of relevant theories and different approaches and perspectives;
- Know the positioning of psychology as a scientific discipline, how it addresses behavioral and mental processes from a historical perspective, and the methods used to examine them;
- Know the general history of psychology and other related fields;
- Know the connections between psychology's topics and other scientific fields;
- Know the fundamental emphases of the perspectives of major theoretical approaches (behavioral, biological, cognitive, evolutionary, humanistic, psychodynamic, and sociocultural);
- Become familiar with the application areas of interest that will form the basis of the specialist training process;
- Become familiar with the fundamental principles of psychological assessment, possess basic knowledge of commonly used measurement tools in the field, and possess basic interviewing skills for conducting applications in different subfields of psychology;
- Have skills and experience in developing research designs, collecting, interpreting, reporting, and discussing data in psychological research; Gain an understanding of scientific thought, learning, critical thinking, and reasoning skills;
- Know the ethical principles and values of psychology, ethical practices, and forms of scientific inquiry.
- Be aware of social, scientific, cultural, and ethical values while conducting studies related to psychology.
- Identify the information needed in their field and guide their personal development.
- Use the acquired knowledge and skills to identify individual and societal problems and develop solutions.
- Work collaboratively with individuals from different disciplines to solve individual and societal problems.
- Develop a positive attitude toward updating their psychological knowledge.
- Define basic grammar rules in Turkish and foreign languages, and acquire basic English language skills.
- Interpret the political, economic, social, and intellectual conditions that led to the Turkish Revolution. Embrace high human values, particularly national goals and ideals and patriotism, in line with Atatürk's principles and revolutions, in harmony with the society they live in.
- Achieve a general cultural formation compatible with their educational level and social environment. Ability to follow information in the field and communicate with colleagues by using a foreign language at least at the European Language Portfolio B1 General Level. Click for details
