Social psychology is a subfield of psychology that examines how individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are shaped by the social environment. At Mersin University's Department of Psychology, this field utilizes theoretical foundations and experimental methods to understand social interactions. Students gain a scientific perspective on fundamental issues such as social perception, attitude formation, group processes, prejudice, social identity, and interpersonal relationships.

Vision and Goal

The aim of our education and research in social psychology is to cultivate researchers who examine individual-societal interactions from a multidimensional perspective, are capable of critical thinking, and adhere to ethical values. Our department aims to develop interdisciplinary projects in subfields such as social cognition, social interaction, group dynamics, and cultural psychology in the near future. In line with this vision, our primary priority is to establish an evidence-based and innovative research culture that contributes scientifically to social problems.
