Department of Medical Biochemistry was founded in 1998. There are 4 professors and 1 associate professor in department. Besides the biochemistry courses, Specialization in Medical Biochemistry and under Health Sciences Institute, master program and doctoral programs are available. 17 specializations in medicine, 5 doctoral and 7 master students have been graduated from our postgraduate program. Still 3 specializations in medicine, 2 doctoral and 2 postgraduate students continue their educations. 

The research subjects of the academic members are clinical chemistry, molecular testing, flow cytometry, laboratory quality control and assessment, tissue typing, free radicals, antioxidant systems, trace elements’ etc. There are many basic and clinical laboratory equipment and systems in the department laboratory. Metabolic testing is planned for next year
