OUR HISTORY

Our Conservatory was established on October 15, 1994. In the 1994–1995 academic year, it was opened for the first time at the secondary education level in the field of Classical Western Music. In the 1997–1998 academic year, in addition to the secondary level, students were also admitted to the undergraduate Music and Performing Arts Department.

In the 1996–1997 academic year, the Music Department founded its Symphony Orchestra, composed of conservatory students. Since the 1999–2000 academic year, our conservatory has also been offering part-time and certificate programs, which continue to this day.

The Music Department consists of the following main art branches: Wind and Percussion Instruments, String Instruments, Piano, and Composition and Conducting. Every year, the department organizes class concerts and various national and international performances in collaboration with external stakeholders. By hosting masterclasses and workshops with renowned artists from Turkey and abroad, the department strives to achieve world-class standards. Students represent our university successfully in national and international competitions, earning numerous awards.

The Ballet Main Art Branch began admitting students at the middle and high school levels in the 2013–2014 academic year. Since its establishment, both the Opera and Ballet Main Art Branches have organized annual class concerts and staged opera and ballet productions. Through masterclasses and workshops featuring distinguished national and international artists, these branches aim to reach global artistic standards. Opera students have earned high rankings in various competitions, while Ballet students have performed in national tours and achieved success in international competitions, proudly representing our university, city, and country.

With Presidential Decree No. 8653 dated June 27, 2024, published in the Official Gazette (No. 32586, June 28, 2024), the establishment of our university’s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts was approved. In the 2024–2025 academic year, the faculty admitted its first undergraduate students to the Departments of Music and Performing Arts.
