Department of Music
The Department of Music at Mersin University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts continues its educational activities at both undergraduate and graduate levels with a strong academic staff, a deep-rooted artistic tradition, and a contemporary approach to education. The department consists of four main branches: String Instruments, Wind and Percussion Instruments, Composition and Conducting, and Piano.
The curriculum is designed to develop students’ skills in essential areas such as technical proficiency, musical expression, creativity, and stage discipline. In addition to individual instrument training, students receive a comprehensive education through orchestra, chamber music, and music theory courses, fostering their artistic identity in a holistic manner.
The Department of Music aims to contribute highly qualified musicians to both national and international art communities. Its graduates pursue successful careers as orchestra musicians, solo performers, chamber music members, and academicians in prestigious orchestras and institutions in Turkey and around the world. Students and alumni further strengthen the conservatory’s artistic productivity and academic reputation through the awards and achievements they earn in international competitions and festivals.
