Program Profile
The Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program offers a two-year associate degree education. This program aims to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of nuclear energy and radiation safety. Throughout the education period, courses such as nuclear physics, radiation measurement and evaluation techniques, radiation safety and protection, reactor technology, operation of nuclear power plants, and radioactive waste management are provided. Students have the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice through laboratory and field applications. The program's objective is to train the technical personnel needed in the nuclear energy sector and radiation safety field. In this context, students gain professional and technical knowledge along with analytical thinking skills and are equipped with the technical and practical skills required in the business world.
Graduates of the program can transfer to the Nuclear Energy Engineering undergraduate program through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
Employment Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program receive the title of "Nuclear Technology Technician." These technicians can work in nuclear power plants, radiology departments of hospitals, industrial radiography, and radiation measurement laboratories. Graduates can also be employed in public sector institutions such as the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, as well as in private sector companies that provide nuclear energy and radiation safety services. Graduates who wish to start their own businesses can operate in areas such as radiation safety consulting and radioactive waste management.
