Tourism and Travel Management Program started its educational activities within the body of Mersin University, Mersin Vocational School in 1992. It has carried on its academic program within the body of Mersin University, Social Science Vocational School since May 5th, 2005. Since the 2010-2011 academic year under the name of Travel-Tourism & Entertainment Services Department of Tourism and Travel Services Program continues its activities.Tourism and Travel Services Program have normal and evening education types. It has totally 100 student quota in a year.

Tourism and Travel Management Program educates candidates who have special characteristics, which are mentioned below. Who has intermediate level management knowledge in the field of tourism and travel management. Who has analytical thinking ability in management science sub-disciplines (human resources management, accounting, marketing, finance and communication), Who has operational level of knowledge, skills and implementation capability (ticketing and incoming operations) in the field of tourism and travel management. Who knows the responsibilities and rights for himself and the others, and law-abiding. Who can generate a solution to problems. Who can establish good communication and relationships. Who has self-confidence. Who can create difference and awareness in the tourism and travel management sector Who has sensitivity to historical and cultural values and environment. Who follows the technology and innovation. Who can use Turkish language right, and express his knowledge and thoughts both written and orally. Who is aware of the importance of the foreign language in business and knows adequate level of foreign language. Who follows local, national and international developments, trends and innovations in tourism and travel management sector. Who is aware of tourists’ and employees’ rights Who is sensitive to the problems of society. Four lecturers are working in our Tourism and Travel Management Program. In tourism and travel management program may academic courses are given like business, economics, marketing and accounting. In addition, operational courses exist like front office, traveling management, law and tourist guiding. In addition to all courses, students also take technical courses like information processing techniques, Galileo, Sejour, Amadeus, Ticketing and language courses like English.
