Traditional Orientation and Lab Coat Ceremony Held at the Department of Chemistry

Mersin University Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry organized an orientation and welcome meeting for first-year students who have newly enrolled in the 2025–2026 academic year. The event featured a series of informative presentations and a traditional lab coat ceremony, designed to help students adapt more easily to the department.

The opening speech of the meeting was delivered by Prof. Dr. Recep ÖZEN, Head of the Department of Chemistry.

During the event, students were provided with information on:

• The academic and administrative structure of the department,

• Available scholarship opportunities and application procedures,

• General information about the Erasmus+ exchange program.

At the conclusion of the program, students received their lab coats in the traditional “lab coat ceremony,” symbolizing their official initiation into laboratory studies within the Department of Chemistry.
