October 1st, International Day of Older Persons, was celebrated with various events at our university.

Our university's School of Health Services hosted meaningful events for the International Day of Older Persons on October 1st. Students, academic staff, and staff from the Department of Health Care Services' Elderly Care Program began the day with a sapling planting ceremony at our Çiftlikköy Campus.

The events continued with the "October 1st International Day of Older Persons Panel" held at the Nevit Kodallı Chamber Music Application and Research Center. The panel, which began with a short musical performance, was opened by our Director of the School of Health Services, Prof. Dr. Gülay Altun Uğraş. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Altun Uğraş emphasized that aging is not merely a biological process; it is also a multidimensional period that profoundly impacts individuals' social roles, social relationships, and quality of life. Our elders are the collective memory of societies, the bearers of cultural heritage, and also valuable life guides who guide us."

In the first session of the panel, Clinical Psychologist Başak Gökdal Bayraktar shared scientific perspectives on "Active Aging," which focuses on supporting the independence of older individuals and maintaining their participation in social life. In the second session, Life Kinetics Instructor İlker Özoğul led hands-on exercises titled "Kinetic Brain Exercises" aimed at preserving cognitive functions and enhancing mental capacity.

Following the highly interactive and enjoyable sessions, certificates of appreciation were presented to the speakers and musicians. The program concluded with a group photo.
