**Students who have taken all the required courses according to the curriculum of their registered program, fulfilled the attendance requirement, and completed all other obligations of their registered program, including internships, and who have only one failed course remaining to graduate, are entitled to take the single course exam.

The principles regarding the single course exam, as stated in the Mersin University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations, are as follows:

(5) (Amended: RG-6/2/2024-32452) The principles regarding the single course exam are as follows:

a) The single course exam is held at the end of the fall semester, spring semester, or, if summer term is offered at the University, at the end of the summer term.

b) A student who has completed all required courses and met the attendance requirements of their registered program, and fulfilled all other obligations of the program, including internships, and who has only failed one course remaining to graduate, may take a single-course exam for that failed course on the dates specified in the academic calendar.

c) A student who has passed all courses but does not have the required 60.00 overall grade point average for graduation may take a single-course exam for any course previously taken on the dates specified in the academic calendar. However, students whose grade in the single-course exam will not raise their overall grade point average to 60.00 will not be granted this right.

d) The authority to decide whether or not to grant the right to take a single-course exam for applied courses rests with the relevant unit's administrative board.

e) After obtaining the right to take a single-course exam, a student may apply in writing to the relevant subunit before the start date of the first single-course exam specified in the academic calendar. The student's situation will be reviewed by the subunit, and if the eligibility requirements are met, the student will be granted the right to take the single-course exam by a decision of the unit's administrative board. The single-course exam schedule is determined and announced by the sub-unit.

e) Students who achieve a minimum grade of 60.00 in the single-course exam are considered successful. Grades obtained in the single-course exam are reflected in the overall grade point average; however, they are not considered in the calculation of the semester grade point average for the semester in which the student failed the course.

f) Students who fail the single-course exam or do not take the single-course exam must have registered for the course in the first fall or spring semester it is offered. If a student fails the course after taking the midterm and final exams without attendance requirements and fulfilling the course requirements, they can use the single-course exam right again.

Students wishing to apply for the exam must complete the single-course exam application form, print it out, and submit it to the department secretariat by the end of business on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
