Orientation Training for the 2026-2027 Academic Year Has Been Completed at Our Vocational School

Orientation sessions designed to support the integration of new students—enrolled across 8 departments and 9 programs at the Mersin University Vocational School of Social Sciences—into university life have been completed. These sessions aimed to help students familiarize themselves with academic processes, utilize the facilities offered by the university, and gain a deeper understanding of the Vocational School’s educational philosophy.
As part of the program, students were provided with information regarding the school’s academic and administrative structure, the Student Information System (OBS), the academic calendar, course registration, examination and internship procedures, the "social transcript" initiative, student clubs, and various cultural, artistic, and sports activities. Furthermore, topics such as quality and accreditation efforts, an inclusive (barrier-free) education approach, student rights and responsibilities, and the support mechanisms available throughout their university journey were addressed.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevat Ercik, Director of the Vocational School of Social Sciences, met with the students during the orientation and emphasized the importance of a safe and supportive educational environment. He offered guidance on how students can pursue their academic development within a peaceful, accessible, and high-quality setting. Additionally, he provided detailed information about the computer laboratories and technical equipment that have been upgraded under the "Strengthening the Educational Infrastructure of the Vocational School of Social Sciences" project—an initiative he leads—and outlined ongoing efforts to enhance a practice-oriented educational infrastructure.
Through these orientation sessions, the goal was to ensure that students can effectively utilize university resources, take advantage of opportunities for academic and social growth, and begin their university life with a well-informed perspective. As the Mersin University Vocational School of Social Sciences, we wish all our students a successful, productive, and wonderful academic year.
