A conference with industry representatives was organized for Transportation Services Department students.

A conference with sector representatives was organized on April 1, 2026, by the Transportation Services Department of our Vocational School of Technical Sciences, with the aim of contributing to the professional development and career planning of the department's students. The conference, moderated by the Head of the Transportation Services Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. T. Fikret KURNAZ, featured Yakup DOST, Vice President of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) and former Director of the Mersin 5th Regional Directorate of Highways, as a speaker. Also present at the event were Nejla DOST, a Highways Construction Engineer, department faculty members, and numerous students.

During the conference, BTK Vice President Yakup DOST gave a presentation titled "The Past and Present of Road Transportation." The presentation covered the technologies, vehicles, and equipment used in road transportation construction in our country from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day. The historical development from construction activities carried out under primitive conditions in the past to today's intelligent transportation systems was presented chronologically to the students and participants. Following the presentation, Yakup DOST also gave advice to students on what they should do for their personal and professional development, and shared various information about the organizational structure of the General Directorate of Highways, an important target for the employment of graduates from the department. The conference event concluded with a question-and-answer session with students and participants.
