Approach to University Students in the New Mourning Process

The Learning and Teaching Development Application and Research Center (ÖGEM) organized a discussion titled "Approaching University Students in the Grieving Process" for our university's faculty members on September 27, 2023, within the scope of "Faculty Member Discussions." The discussion, held at our University's Prof. Dr. UÄŸur Oral Cultural Center Hall B, was attended by many faculty members working in different fields. In the discussion presented by Prof. Dr. Cem Ali GÄ°ZÄ°R, faculty member in the Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences, Guidance and Psychological Counseling Division, information was shared on how to approach students going through a grieving process after a loss. From this perspective, brief information about the grieving process was presented and topics that faculty members can take into consideration in their interactions with students were discussed. In line with these recommendations, faculty members were provided with guidance on establishing healthy interactions with students who have experienced loss and supporting students in completing their grieving process. After the question-and-answer session following the discussion, the event was concluded with Learning and Teaching Development Application and Research Center Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. AyÅŸegül AVŞAR TUNCAY presenting a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Cem Ali GÄ°ZÄ°R.
