Electrical and Energy Department Students Conduct Technical Visit to University Hospital

Mersin University Technical Sciences Vocational School added another technical field trip to its series of trips aimed at reinforcing students' theoretical knowledge in the field.
Second-year students from the Electrical and Energy Department, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program, had the opportunity to examine air conditioning systems on-site during a technical field trip to Mersin University Hospital on April 2, 2026.
Modern Air Conditioning Systems Examined On-Site During the trip, guided by Mr. Mustafa, a technical unit supervisor at the hospital, the air conditioning infrastructure, vital in sensitive areas such as healthcare facilities, was discussed in detail. Students were given technical information on:
Air Handling Units and Hygienic Heat Recovery Systems: The working principles of special air handling units that ensure air quality in sterile areas such as operating rooms and intensive care units,
Chiller Units: The role of air and water-cooled chiller units in central cooling,
Heat Production and Distribution: The operating processes of hot water boilers and circulation pumps,
Terminal Units: Technical information on the installation and maintenance details of concealed ceiling type fan-coil units.
From Theory to Practice: A Fully Equipped Training Future HVAC technicians gained sectoral awareness by observing how the complex systems they learned about in class are managed in a real-world facility. Following his technical presentation, Mr. Mustafa answered students' questions about system efficiency and maintenance periods, sharing his professional experience.
The technical field trip concluded with an emphasis on the importance of the contributions made to providing students with field experience.
