Electrical and Energy Department Students Conduct Technical Visit to University Hospital

First-year students of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program at Mersin University's Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Department of Electrical and Energy, organized a comprehensive technical field trip to the University Hospital to reinforce their professional training.

The future air conditioning and refrigeration technicians had the opportunity to examine the hospital's massive air conditioning systems, central cooling (chiller) units, cooling towers, and ventilation units firsthand. The students were particularly interested in the sensitive hygienic air conditioning (HVAC) systems of operating rooms, intensive care units, and laboratories, which are vital for hospitals.

During the inspections, which were conducted with the guidance of department academics, the students received comprehensive field information from Technician Mustafa ALTINSOY from the hospital's technical team. Technician ALTINSOY shared his professional experience regarding the operating principles of the systems, automation processes that ensure energy efficiency, fault detection methods, and periodic maintenance stages. Seeing how the concepts learned in theoretical classes are applied in a critical healthcare facility providing 24/7 uninterrupted service, the students experienced the dynamics of the profession firsthand.

The event, which greatly contributed to students gaining sectoral awareness and developing their professional vision, concluded with a question-and-answer session with Technician Mustafa ALTINSOY and a commemorative photograph taken to mark the occasion. Officials from the Electrical and Energy Department of our Vocational School stated that these types of technical trips, which support theoretical education, will continue to increase so that students can graduate as well-equipped technicians.
