Our Faculty Sets Up a Library, a Special Education Class, and Plants Olive Saplings in Hatay

Our faculty members and students established a library and a special education classroom in the Yayladağı district of Hatay and planted two hundred olive saplings. This meaningful project was made possible through funding and donations generated through activities organized as part of the "Extracurricular Activities in Education" course within the Faculty of Education. The furniture, educational materials, books, and olive saplings procured as part of the project were delivered to the schools on Friday, December 29, 2024.
Our Faculty of Education faculty members, Dr. Ramazan Karatepe, Dr. Fatma Canan Durgungöz, and Prof. Dr. Yusuf İnandı, spearheaded the project. They stated, "As in previous periods, we continue to support schools with our students in need. Throughout the semester, we organized charity bazaars with our students, produced handcrafted goods, and held various events such as theater plays. With the proceeds from these activities and voluntary donations from the public, we established a fully equipped special education classroom at Atatürk Middle School in the Yayladağı district. We also established a well-equipped library for the newly opened Yayladağı Middle School. We also provided 200 olive saplings to be planted in the gardens of various schools in the district. On December 29, 2024, we completed the installation of the special education classroom and library with our students and held their opening ceremony."
District Director of National Education Hikmet Bilgin and school administrators, who were present at the opening ceremony, expressed their gratitude for the support and expressed their gratitude to the entire Mersin University family.
