Activity Report for the August–September 2026 Period

As the Mersin University Faculty of Maritime Studies, we are pleased to share with the public our Activity Report for the August–September 2026 period, prepared in line with our principles of transparent management, sustainable quality goals, and strong corporate communication.

The initiatives carried out under the leadership of our Dean, Prof. Dr. Ünal ÖZDEMİR, and realized through the valuable contributions of our academic and administrative staff, span a wide spectrum—ranging from education and physical infrastructure to digital transformation and academic achievement.

Key Activities and Developments:

Strong Rise in YKS 2026: According to the 2026 YKS placement results, the minimum ranking scores for admission to our Marine Transportation Engineering and Maritime Business Management departments improved significantly compared to the previous year.

Digital Management and E-Signature Era: Administrative processes were accelerated, and traceability and security were enhanced by transitioning to an electronic signature (e-signature) system for the signing of board decisions.

National Media and Industry Engagements: Our faculty’s technical expertise and infrastructure were showcased at the national level through a live broadcast of the TRT Main News bulletin from our Bridge Simulator. Additionally, Retired Rear Admiral Cem Gürdeniz and the Secretary General of the Mersin Chamber of Shipping, Retired Admiral Fuat Gedik, visited our faculty to discuss collaborations between education and the industry. Enhanced Training Infrastructure: Technical maintenance and chemical procurement for the wave pool and AHU/HVAC systems were completed using internal resources and cost-effective solutions, ensuring our simulator, laboratory, and pool facilities are ready for the new term.

Inaugural Satisfaction Surveys: As part of our quality assurance efforts, an Academic and Administrative Staff Satisfaction Survey was conducted for the first time, strengthening our participatory management approach.

New Academic Term and Digital Presence: An orientation program was organized for the 2026-2027 academic year, and classroom projection and laboratory equipment were upgraded. Our official website and social media channels were updated and made accessible to our stakeholders.

We extend our gratitude to all our academic and administrative staff, students, and valued stakeholders who contribute to the development of our faculty.
