Our university continues to strengthen international collaborations within the framework of the “GreenEngine – Fostering Creative Engineering for a Sustainable Green World” project, which is being carried out under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program. During the coordination meeting and the training-of-trainers program held in Ioannina, Greece, as part of the project, important decisions were made regarding the development of sustainable engineering education.

Hosted by the University of Ioannina from October 5–9, the program brought together project partners to share experiences and carry out practical activities. Prof. Dr. H. Duygu Bilgen, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering representing our university at the international meeting, delivered two presentations titled “Project-Based Teaching in Sustainable Engineering Education” and “Smart and Sustainable Campus Competition – Practical Session.” The presentations addressed the transformation of sustainability challenges in the field of engineering into hands-on and interdisciplinary learning experiences.

Our University Will Host the Sustainability Winter Camp

As part of the project’s “Winter Camp for Students” (WP6) work package, the program for the winter camp—scheduled to take place at our university in February 2027—was also reviewed in collaboration with project partners. During the meetings, preparatory work was carried out regarding the camp’s organization, activities, and the learning experiences to be offered to students. The goal of these efforts was to create a learning environment that supports students in developing creative solutions to sustainability challenges, establishing interdisciplinary collaborations, and applying their engineering knowledge to practical applications.

Through these efforts carried out as part of the GreenEngine project, our university continues to contribute to the development of sustainability-focused engineering education and the strengthening of international academic collaborations.
