Academic Contribution to Public Genetic Awareness at BilimFest Gaziantep

Dr. Badel İnce, a faculty member in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine at the Institute of Health Sciences, Mersin University, engaged with students during a science event held as part of the TÜBİTAK 4007 BilimFest Gaziantep. She delivered a presentation titled "Common Genetic Diseases and Syndromes in Society."

The event, which aimed to disseminate scientific knowledge regarding genetic diseases and syndromes to various segments of society, covered the fundamental mechanisms of these conditions, the importance of early awareness, and the value of genetic information for public health. By conveying scientific concepts in an accessible language, the presentation helped foster an interest in genetics among young people and enhanced their scientific awareness.

Serving as a significant reflection of the "social contribution" mission of universities, this event underscored the importance of initiatives designed to extend academic knowledge beyond university boundaries, strengthen scientific literacy, and connect younger generations with science.

Mersin University continues to contribute to education, awareness, and societal development through initiatives that bring its scientific knowledge and expertise to the public.
