The Project Led by Dr. Lecturer Canan Durgungöz Has Been Awarded Support by the British Council

The project titled "Empowering Disaster-Affected Scholars through Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration and Capacity Building," led by our faculty member Dr. Fatma Canan Durgungöz, has been awarded £80,000 in support from the British Council.
Providing information about the project, which aims to empower early-career researchers affected by the February 6, 2023 earthquake in Turkey, Dr. Durgungöz said: Dr. Durgungöz, a faculty member, said, “Within the scope of the project, priority will be given to disadvantaged groups such as refugees, women academics, displaced persons, and academics with special needs. Our project will be implemented in partnership with the Center for Global Learning, affiliated with Coventry University, and Mersin University.
Speaking about the project's main objectives, Dr. Durgungöz said, “Because Turkey's higher education sector was severely affected by the earthquake (according to statistical data, 14,446 academics were affected), this project is critical for sustaining local academic development and contributing to community recovery. Our main goals include increasing the capacity of disaster-affected academics to conduct research and sustain their academic careers, encouraging interdisciplinary research collaborations, supporting the sharing of knowledge and experience between researchers in the UK and Türkiye, and strengthening international research capacity. The project aims to conduct research activities, conduct workshops, provide academic mentorship, organize academic visits and capacity-building events between Coventry and Mersin Universities, and conduct preliminary studies on joint doctoral programs.” He used the phrases.
The project, which will last 18 months, will feature Dr. Ahmet Durgungöz as a researcher, and Prof. Dr. Mutlu Nisa Ünaldı Coral, Prof. Dr. Tuğba Yanpar Yelken, and Prof. Dr. Serdarhan Musa Taşkaya as advisors.
