November 24th Teachers' Day Was Celebrated At Our University With Various Events.
Our university's Faculty of Education celebrated Teachers' Day on November 24th with various events. The events, held at the Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çamsarı Conference Hall, included chess and mangala tournaments, a mind and intelligence game competition, a charity bazaar, and a conference.
"Teaching is the Art of Building a Country"
In her speech, Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Mutlu Nisa Ünaldı Coral emphasized that teaching is a sacred duty that determines the fate of a country. Recalling Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's words, "Teachers, the new generation will be your masterpiece," Prof. Dr. Ünaldı Coral stated that teaching is not only about imparting knowledge but also about shaping thought and building character.
Prof. Dr. Ünaldı Coral said, "We strive to educate our students as teachers who prioritize people, think critically, are open to innovation, and progress under the guidance of science. Because we know that the fate of a country is determined by the quality of its teachers."
In his speech, the Dean expressed his respectful memory of all the teachers who kept the classrooms alight, regardless of snow or winter, even in the most remote corners of Anatolia. He commemorated Head Teacher Atatürk, especially the teachers who have passed away, with gratitude. He also wished success to the teachers currently serving and idealism and the light of science to the prospective teachers.
Chorus Recital and Awards Ceremony
Following the opening speech, a choir composed of students from the Faculty of Education took the stage. The recital, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin Turhal, featured graduate student Nehir Alya on piano and Yiğit Mehmet Çerçil on guitar. At the end of the recital, certificates of appreciation were presented to the choir members.
Following the musical recital, awards were given to the students who won the chess, mangala, and mind-teaching tournaments. Dean Prof. Dr. Ünaldı Coral congratulated the successful students and presented them with gifts.
"Teaching in a Changing World" Conference
Following the awards ceremony, Prof. Dr. Cem Ali Gizir gave a lecture titled "Being a Teacher in a Changing World." Prof. Dr. Gizir made important assessments on the teaching skills required by today's era, the digital transformation in education, and the future of the profession. At the end of the conference, Prof. Dr. Gizir was presented with a certificate of appreciation by Dean Prof. Dr. Ünaldı Coral.
Interview on TRT Çukurova Radio
As part of Teachers' Day, the Faculty of Education participated in the program "The Story of Learners," broadcast on TRT Çukurova Radio. The talk featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Güneş, English Language Teaching Program student Gizem Nur Buğ, and Preschool Teaching student Nezih Keleş. During the program, prospective teachers shared their views and experiences on the profession, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güneş evaluated the social dimension of teaching.
