Mersin Technology Transfer Office (Mersin TTO)
Mersin TTO became operational in 2013 within the institutional structure of Mersin University. As the name suggests, it is a "Technology Transfer" interface. In this capacity, Mersin TTO serves as the integration point of Mersin University within Turkey's Innovation Ecosystem???whose main actors include the Ministry of Industry and Technology, T??B??TAK, universities, and private sector companies???and the R&D and innovation structures that feed this ecosystem.
The Global Innovation Reports prepared under the leadership of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) clearly demonstrate the relationship between innovation and economic development, identifying innovation as the main driver of the economy. As demonstrated in the 2022 Global Innovation Report, Turkey, which rose 14 places in the last two years to rank 37th for the first time in its history, possesses this awareness across all its institutions, and Mersin TTO develops strategies and policies accordingly.
Innovation is also one of the main components of competition and competitiveness, and it oscillates at the same frequency as economic development. It is no coincidence that all countries in the top 10 of the Global Competitiveness Index prepared by the World Economic Forum are also within the top 15 countries in the Global Innovation Index.
Mersin TTO fulfills its role in contributing to R&D, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship processes???which encompass various ecosystems within themselves???and in making our University more visible in indices such as T??B??TAK GY????, URAP, ARWU, THE World University Rankings, THE Impact Rankings, THE Young University Rankings, THE ASIA Universities, ARWU, CWTS LEIDEN, SCIMAGO, WEBOMETRIC, USNews, GreenMetric, QS, RUR, and CWUR, alongside the indices mentioned above.
Mersin TTO maintains close cooperation with the region's major NGOs. In addition, it continues to provide services in the fields of R&D, Innovation, and Technology Transfer through the "Mersin TTO Executive Board," composed of Mersin University academics, and the "Mersin TTO Advisory Board," composed of regional and international NGO representatives and business professionals.
