Born on February 25, 1969 in Erdemli, Mersin, Erol Yaşar received his bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Selçuk University in 1991 and his master's degree in Mathematics at Ohio University in 1996. In 2006, Erol Yaşar completed his doctorate at Süleyman Demirel University and received the title of Doctor.
Erol Yaşar, who worked at Selcuk University, Faculty of Education between 1992-1993 and Mugla Sıtkı Kocman University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences between 1993-2008, worked as Asst. Prof. at Mersin University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences between 2008-2012. Afterwards, he worked as Assoc. Prof. Dr. between 2012-2018 and received the title of professor in 2018.
Prof. Dr. Erol Yaşar worked as Director of Mersin University Vocational School of Technical Sciences between 2014-2017, OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Centre) Mersin Provincial Examination Coordinator between 2019-2023, Assistant to the Rector of Mersin University between 2014-2018, and Vice Rector between 2018-2023.
Prof. Dr. Erol Yaşar has been serving as Vice Chairman of Mersin Technopark Board of Directors and Mersin Agropark Board Member since 2023, and as the Dean of Tarsus University, Tarsus Technical Education Faculty since 2019.
Prof. Dr. Erol Yaşar was appointed as the Rector of Mersin University with the resolution published in the Official Gazette dated January 10, 2023 with the appreciation and approval of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Prof. Dr. Erol Yaşar, who has a great deal of national and international research articles and published books, is married and has three children.
