A Promotional Meeting For Cts Was Held Through A Collaboration Between Silifke Myo And Merkam.
A meeting to introduce the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Support Unit (CTS) was held in collaboration with Silifke Vocational School and Mersin University Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center (MERKAM) to raise awareness about the university's efforts to combat sexual harassment and sexual assault.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Mersin University Silifke Vocational School Conference Hall, was attended by academic and administrative staff as well as numerous students. The event comprehensively covered the duties and responsibilities of the CTS, application processes, and support mechanisms offered within the university.
The speaker at the meeting was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Dural Tasouji, Deputy Director of Mersin University Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center (MERKAM). In her presentation, Tasouji shared definitions of sexual harassment and sexual assault, the procedures to follow in such cases, the confidentiality of applications, and the psychological, legal, and guidance support services offered by CTS with the participants.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, our Vocational School Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Saygın, emphasized that universities are not only institutions that produce academic knowledge, but also bear the responsibility of creating safe, equal, and inclusive living spaces. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saygın stated that CTS plays an important role in raising awareness in the university environment and that such informational meetings will continue.
At the end of the event, MERKAM Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Dural Tasouji answered participants' questions and highlighted the application procedures and support processes for CTS. It was noted that the introductory meeting contributed to strengthening a safe, respectful, and supportive educational environment at Mersin University
