The Internal Medicine Nursing Department of Mersin University Faculty of Nursing organized an awareness event at the Cumhuriyet Square Stand Area on May 18, 2026, as part of World Hypertension Day. During the event, participants' blood pressure was measured to assess their risk of hypertension.

Faculty members from the Internal Medicine Nursing Department and 4th-year nursing students provided information on the effects of hypertension on public health, risk groups, and blood pressure monitoring. Individuals at risk were identified during the measurements and referred to healthcare facilities. Suggestions were also shared regarding balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and reducing salt intake for a healthy lifestyle.

At the end of the event, participants expressed their satisfaction with the blood pressure measurement and information session, stating that the event made a significant contribution to public health.
