The Nuclear Sciences Application And Research Center İs Bringing High School Students Together With The Technology Of The Future
The Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center continues its educational activities among high schools to raise awareness of nuclear science among young generations. As part of this, the Center recently met with students from Yusuf Kalkavan Anatolian High School. Within the scope of the educational program, Professor Dr. Kenan Söğüt, a faculty member of the Faculty of Science, gave an interactive presentation to the students. Professor Dr. Söğüt illustrated the development process of nuclear physics from its beginnings to the present day with striking examples. The students, who listened to the current state of the technology and its future potential, showed great interest in the presentation. Following the presentation, a question-and-answer session was held. The students' insightful and unusual questions in the fields of nuclear energy and physics created a productive discussion environment in the hall. Yusuf Kalkavan Anatolian High School Principal Ali Sungur ATEŞ, in his speech at the end of the program, drew attention to the importance of nuclear energy on Turkey's agenda and said:
"Due to the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is under rapid construction, nuclear energy is currently one of the most important issues on our country's agenda. In such a current and strategic issue, it is very valuable for our students to be enlightened with accurate and scientific information directly from the source. We thank the Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center for providing us with this opportunity and our faculty members who broadened our horizons with their valuable presentations."
Dr. Şenel Çobaner, an official from the Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center, stated that educational activities in schools will continue to increase in the coming period to support young people's curiosity about science.
