Dr. Mehmet Enes Salkın, a lecturer in the Social Work and Counseling Department at Mersin University's Vocational School of Social Sciences, participated as a speaker in a training program on "Disability and Elderly Rights" organized by the Turkish Alzheimer's Association to enhance the professional knowledge and awareness of staff.

The training, conducted under the auspices of the Turkish Alzheimer's Association, comprehensively addressed the fundamental rights of disabled and elderly individuals, national and international legal regulations, a rights-based approach in social work practices, social support mechanisms, and access processes to rights. Dr. Salkın emphasized the importance of a rights-based service approach in improving the quality of life for elderly and disabled individuals, highlighting the necessity of ethical principles, the protection of human dignity, and a social justice perspective in social work practices.

During the training, participants had the opportunity to learn about current problems encountered in practice and proposed solutions, while also enhancing their professional knowledge and skills through interactive sessions where field experiences were shared. At the end of the program, participants' questions were answered, and an exchange of views on the subject took place.

The training provided was deemed to have made a significant contribution to improving the quality of services offered to elderly and disabled individuals and to strengthening a rights-based approach to social work.
